I was born on August 14, 1979, in Levice, Slovakia, and began playing and getting involved with music at the age of five. At 11, I started studying clarinet, later transitioning to saxophone. I attended the Conservatory of Žilina, where I successfully graduated as an alto saxophonist. My first notable appearance was in 1997 when I performed at Bratislavské Jazzové Dni with The Slovak Young Swing Generation Big Band. In 2002, I was honored with the title Jazzman of the Year by the Slovak Jazz Society for my outstanding instrumental performance.
I’ve traveled all over the world, experiencing different cultures and sharing my music. One of my biggest highlights was performing at Carnegie Hall. I also had a New York Quintet with Benito Gonzalez, Essiet Okon Essiet, and David Hodek, which was an incredible collaboration. Along with my sextet, I’ve been nominated twice for the Crystal Wing Award, which has been a huge honor. I’m also part of the Visegrad Jazz 4 and had a project with top Cuban musicians. Right now, I’m working on a project called Modal Trap, blending modern trap music with the modal approach from jazz. It’s an exciting challenge, and I’m looking forward to where this innovative sound will take me.
